Investment in Apex has been steady and is reflected in the growth of the retail market in and immediately surrounding Apex.  Beaver Creek Commons, a large shopping complex located in the Southeast quadrant of US Hwy 64 and NC Hwy 55, is a hot spot. Anchored by Super Target and Lowe’s Home Improvement, Beaver Creek Commons includes tenants such as Office Max and PetSmart, as well as a number of restaurants including Chick-Fil-A, Panera Bread, Chili’s, QDoba, and Firehouse Subs.  Click here for a site plan of this development.

Beaver Creek Crossings sits adjacent to the commons and offers additional shopping options.  Beaver Creek Cinema 12, Dick's Sporting Goods, Borders Bookstore, Old Navy, TJ Maxx/Homegoods, Longhorn Steakhouse, Tylers Tap Room, Hibachi Express, Cold Stone Creamery and Red Robin are all open for business.

Located down NC Highway 55 from Beaver Creek, Haddon Hall Commons, is anchored by a Harris Teeter Grocery Store.  The other tenants include SportClips, Salon Suzanne Marie, Mambo Italiano and Bruegger's Bagels.

Our Historic Downtown Apex continues to attract merchants, artists, restaurateurs, and professionals looking for space in a unique atmosphere. Since late 2008, more than 17 businesses opened in downtown Apex -- that is the highest amount of openings on Salem Street since the early 1940s. Residents and visitors come down to the historic district to enjoy shopping at a variety of antique, furniture, home décor and jewelry shops and meet local artists who display and sell their work in our local art galleries.

In addition to shopping, the Historic Downtown offers a variety of dining alternatives. The most recent restaurant to open is The Salem Street Pub which offers dining in a traditional pub atmosphere.  The popular downtown destination, The Peak City Grill & Bar, provides both inside and outside dining on the first level and Salem Executive Suites on the second level. The Economic Development Office of the Chamber worked with the Apex town board to set up a downtown economic development grant for the purpose of attracting new businesses downtown. The grant will pay 75% of water/sewer capacity fees for a retail business locating in the historic downtown central business district.

Veridea will be a new, sustainable, mixed-use urban community constructed on 1,000 acres witing the Town of Apex. It will offer almost all things one would find in a development of such prominence, including a range of housing choices, places to shop, many employment opportunities, and a host of entertainment and recreation options. Veridea, however, will be more than a large, exceptional, mixed-use development in the heart of a thriving region. Veridea is being developed to become the next-generation extension of North Carolina's world-renowned Research Triangle Park (RTP). Over time, it will be home to a forward-thinking community that seeks to accomplish objectives similar to those of the existing park, within the context of a contemporary, ecologically friendly, sustainable mixed-use development. A significant office and corporate environment, including residential communities and regionally-focused commercial space, will ultimately be developed, along with a host of community-oriented spaces. Given its size and aspirations, Veridea will be a model and a catalyst in the region and beyond.
